1 Generate line art
Prompt for high-contrast black line art on white, single subject, no gray fills, consistent stroke weight. Generate extras for picks.

- ChatGPT Images (OpenAI) — Fast iteration for simple motifs
Tip: Avoid photorealism; ask for ‘coloring book page, thick clean outlines, no shading’.
2 Clean & edit
Remove artifacts, close gaps, erase stray marks, convert to pure B/W.
Best tool: Adobe Photoshop
- Photopea — Free browser alternative for threshold/cleanup
- Canva — Quick background cleanup for simple pages
Tip: Flatten layers; remove transparency before PDF.
3 Upscale if needed
If line art is soft under 300 DPI at trim size, upscale before layout.

- Adobe Photoshop — Preserve Details 2.0 / Super Resolution as alternative
Tip: Upscale first, then threshold again so lines stay crisp.
4 Layout interior
Place one page per PDF page at chosen trim (e.g. 8.5×11). Add page numbers if desired. Keep art inside safe margins unless using bleed.

5 Cover & mockup

Tip: Flatten cover to one 300 DPI image.
6 Export & upload
Export print-ready PDF interior + cover; upload to KDP; order a proof.

7 Disclose & list
In KDP publishing flow, disclose AI-generated images (and text if any). Publish paperback.

Export specs
Interior images ≥300 DPI at final print size; flattened, no transparency. Bleed 0.125 in beyond trim if art reaches the edge. Cover as single flattened 300 DPI image. Max upload 650 MB.
